Summer in the UAE is no joke — with temperatures soaring above 45°C (113°F), overheating can quickly become dangerous. Here are practical tips to stay cool and safe:

🌞 Stay Cool Outdoors
Avoid peak sun hours: Stay indoors between 12 PM and 4 PM. If you must go out, keep it brief and seek shade often.
Wear light clothing: Loose, light-colored cotton or linen clothes reflect heat and let your skin breathe.
Use umbrellas or hats: A wide-brimmed hat or UV umbrella offers solid protection.
Apply SPF 50+ sunscreen: Reapply every 2 hours — sunburn worsens your body's heat retention.
🧊 Hydrate Strategically
Drink water every 20–30 minutes, even if you're not thirsty.
Add electrolytes: Use oral rehydration salts or coconut water to replace lost salts.
Avoid caffeine and alcohol: Both dehydrate your body.
🏠 Keep Your Home Cool - even with AC
Block the sun: Close curtains/blinds during the day, especially in east- and west-facing rooms.
Use fans smartly: Ceiling fans work best in tandem with AC. If using just fans, open windows at night.
Don’t overwork the AC: Set to 24–25°C for comfort and efficiency. Clean filters monthly.
🛏️ Sleep Comfortably
Cool shower before bed
Use a cooling mattress topper or bamboo sheets
Freeze a water bottle and place it at your feet
🚘 Beat the Heat in Your Car
Crack windows slightly if parking.
Use a windshield sunshade
Let air out before entering: Open all doors for a minute before getting in.
⚠️ Know the Signs of Heat Illness
Heat exhaustion:
Heavy sweating
Dizziness
Weak pulse
Nausea
Heat stroke (medical emergency):
No sweating
Body temp above 40°C
Confusion or fainting
🚨 If symptoms appear, move to a cool place, hydrate, and seek medical help if severe.
