Mounjaro, Menopause, and the Taboo No One Talks About - why is Everyone Whispering.....

When you hit menopause, your body stops whispering and starts shouting.

The sleepless nights. The stubborn weight gain around the middle. The mood swings that come out of nowhere. The feeling that you’ve somehow become a stranger to your own body—all while juggling the demands of work, family, and society’s relentless pressure to “age gracefully.”

I’m 60 years old, living in Abu Dhabi, and like many women in this stage of life, I’ve done everything I was told: cut the carbs, increased the walking, drank the herbal teas, tried yoga, supplements, fasting windows. Some helped. Most didn’t. The truth? Menopause changes everything—and very few people talk about what that really means.

So, when I first heard about Mounjaro, it was from another woman like me. Quietly. Cautiously. Almost as if we were trading secrets instead of health tips. And that’s when I realized: it’s not just our hormones that need rebalancing—it’s the way we talk about managing menopause itself.

What Mounjaro Is—and Isn’t

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) was developed for managing type 2 diabetes, but clinical trials showed it also leads to significant, sustainable weight loss. For many menopausal women, whose metabolism slows while cravings intensify, this isn’t about vanity—it’s about relief.

But instead of celebration, what I often hear is silence. Or worse—judgment.

  • "Isn’t that cheating?"

  • "You should just accept your body as it is."

  • "It’s risky. Isn’t menopause natural?"

Yes, menopause is natural. So is suffering through it in silence. But that doesn’t make it necessary.

The Double Standard for Women Over 50

Let’s be honest. When men gain weight or lose energy, they go to the doctor and get help—no stigma attached. But when we do the same? We’re told to try harder. Be more disciplined. And if we dare to use medication to help, we risk being labeled “lazy” or “superficial.”

Why I Chose Mounjaro—and Why I'm Not Hiding It

I chose Mounjaro because nothing else worked. My weight was climbing. My joints hurt. I had brain fog and fatigue that wouldn’t lift. After consulting my doctor and doing my research, I started on a low dose.

The results were instant—and they were real. I sleep better. I feel lighter—not just physically, but mentally. I’m more present in my own life.

And still, I hesitated to tell even my closest friends. Why? Because I didn’t want to be judged. Because even among women, there’s this unspoken rule: We’re allowed to suffer, but not to seek solutions that look like shortcuts.

But what if we reframed it?

What if we saw Mounjaro—and anything else that helps us thrive during menopause—not as weakness, but as self-respect?

Let’s Talk—Out Loud

You don’t have to take Mounjaro. You don’t have to take anything at all. But you do deserve to know your options. To talk openly. To age with dignity, choice, and yes—joy. Menopause is not a sentence. It’s a transition. And just like every other phase of life, you get to choose how you move through it.

If that includes a little scientific help? So be it. There’s no shame in that. Only strength.

Red Flags & Risks to Know

Like any medication, Mounjaro comes with potential side effects—nausea, constipation, fatigue, or even more serious issues in rare cases. This is why it’s so important to be supervised by a medical professional.

And don’t buy it online or without a prescription. Your health deserves more care than that.
